It’s been a long time, but we have finally found a good weekend for another Breakfast with the BOFA’s. I was supposed to be in Chico playing in on a UCSD alumni team, but the tournament was cancelled due to the Northern California wildfires. As bummed as I am about that, I’m very happy that it opened up an unexpected weekend were we can have everyone over for breakfast.

We’re doing breakfast this Sunday, July 20th.. after another one of Zid’s parties. We were a little groggy after his last one, but we’re still planning on starting cooking between 10:00 and 10:30. Come then and hang out with a hot cup of coffee as we pretend to be awake.

This time we’re doing “Build Your Own Breakfast Burritos.” They can be as gourmet as you want, or as close to a 3am drunken burrito craving as you can get, because we’re making a ton of ingredients that you can use to make your own burrito masterpiece.

We’re thinking:

eggs

beans

rice

cheeses

hashbrowns

homemade salsa

sour cream

veggie sausage

avocado

guacamole

sauteed onions and bell peppers

mushrooms

We’re probably going to have a couple more sides, but those will get figured out as we get closer to Sunday.

As always, if you want to bring stuff for mimosas, that is great. We’ll have hot and iced coffee, the ULTIMATE bloody mary bar, and I’m going to see if I can put together a cauldron of homemade horchata. We’ll how that goes.

If you want to come, great. We’re going to use this nifty new website as our RSVP tool as well. Just leave a comment to this post that includes who you are, and who you want to bring, and maybe if you are bringing a fancy appetizer or beverage. Feel free to invite others, but just let us know so we can work the numbers into how much food we need to prepare. Comment away!

It’s getting colder out, so we want to make something warm and comfortable to keep people cozy in our Los Angeles winter. The menu was inspired by Square One’s french toast, which is absolutely delicious, (but expensive). We tried to duplicate it, and discovered that it isn’t actually too tough. The potatoes recipe was stolen from our sister in law Shelby, who makes these for family gathering. I love it, and figured it would be great for a December morning. The bionicos are there to lighten up the menu. The recipe was given to Cheyanne by a co-worker of Mexican decent. Bionico recipes are actually pretty tough to come across online, so Cheyanne got it straight from the source. Below is our menu.

French toast with bourbon-pecan topping and vanilla whipped cream

Savory cheddar cheese potato mash

Fresh fruit bionico

The original bloody mary bar

Hot fresh coffee

We’re kicking it off with the feature (and our favorite) Gump breakfast dish, banana crepes. These were always great, and we’re bringing them to our LA friends, with the hopes of keeping you all coming back to our breakfasts. We’re also making some great potatoes that were inspired by a trip to Arizona that Cheyanne made while visiting her mom. She loved these potatoes, so she figured she would give them a try. Check out the rest of the menu below.

French crepes filled with a sweet cream sauce and sliced bananas

Country roasted red potatoes and peppers loaded with cheese*, tomatoes*, onions, mushrooms*, sour cream* and avocado*
*we actually forgot to put this stuff on top.. got too excited I guess.

Veggie egg scramble with spinach, onions, and broccoli topped with feta cheese
